Просмотров: 1157The GAZ-A-Aero automobile was designed in 1934 by Alexei Nikitin (1903-1974). At this time Nikitin was an aspirant at the Russian Military Academy working on aerodynamics. He gathered information about the design and production of racing cars from all over the world. He built a home-made aerodynamic tube and concentrated on the design of car bodies with optimal aerodynamic characteristics. After a chain of experiments, he built a real car in his garage, for which he borrowed the chassis of the Soviet GAZ-A series, which itself was copied from the Ford-A series. Nikitin's innovative car was the result of his Ph. D. work and was accepted for a design trial in the automotive industry.During his engineering career, Alexei Nikitin became an expert in the construction of tracked vehicles for civil and military use. He is the author of more than 100 articles, textbooks and monographs, and his work "Theory of the stability of tracked machines" is still popular in professional circles. Nikitin was also the founder of the chair of tractors and amphibious vehicles at the Moscow State Automobile & Road Technical University, where he worked for more than 6 years.
